Mark Begich Fails to Protect Alaskans
"Time and time again we have been shown that we cannot trust Mark Begich to stand up for Alaska." - Fred Brown, Treadwell for Senate Campaign Spokesman
Anchorage, AK – Yesterday, Senator Maria Cantwell (WA) and Senator Mark Kirk (IL) introduced legislation that would lock up over 1.5 million acres of Alaska’s Arctic National Wildlife Refuge (ANWR). This legislation would end Alaska’s ability to responsibly extract oil from ANWR. It should be noted that Senator Cantwell hosted a fundraiser for Senator Mark Begich this summer.
The Treadwell for Senate campaign released the following statement regarding the latest move by Begich’s allies to hurt Alaskans:
“Senator Begich either has no pull within the Democratic Party or he supports Senator Cantwell’s move to lock up ANWR from future oil exploration. This move by Cantwell also stands in direct contradiction to one of Begich’s key campaign promises to open up ANWR to oil exploration.
Time and time again we have been shown that we cannot trust Mark Begich to stand up for Alaska. Whether it’s ANWR or Obamacare, Begich has proven to Alaskans that he cannot be trusted.” – Fred Brown, Treadwell for Senate Campaign Spokesman
